Spending Valentine’s Day!

How I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day?!

Well, like this:

Writing my Fan-fiction, listening to Bear McCreary’s soundtrack for Black Sails (for inspiration – plus, Funeral at the Sea is a MUST LISTEN!!!), eating Kinder Bueno and eventually reading Harry Potter.

And I’ll be doing that because I don’t want to spend the day watching Pride & Prejudice, listening to All By Myself on loop, crying like a baby, eating loads of ice-cream and cursing my non-existence love life 😦

Still, just because my Valentine’s Day will be extremely depressing as it were, it doesn’t mean I don’t wish all those lovebirds out there a Happy Valentine’s Day 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day Lovebirdies!!!

I’m Going Crazy!!!!!!

There are these works happening on the first floor that are driving me and my mum mad.

And I still have a week before classes start and my head feels like it’s about to explode. I only wish for them to stop for a couple of days… as soon as I start classes they can continue with their hammering!!

In the meantime… I ALREADY HAVE HYDRA!!!!

Anyway… it’s just to let you know that all is well though I think next time you hear from me, it’ll be from the mental asylum!

Analysing the Beast…

I couldn’t get my hands on Within Temptation’s new album because my country sucks and my music store is stupid! The album came out today (January 31st) but they will only have it available Monday because that’s when they re-stock their stock!

I’m so pissed about it I could murder someone…

However, I managed to listen to it. I was freaking out, being honest with you, slightly scared of what would come out of it. Well, Hydra is definitely a Beast!

It’s clearly different from their previous albums but at the same time it does bring a bit of their original roots. It’s more Rock than actually Symphonic Gothic Metal but I think some fans will be pleased.

Actually, I think my sister is going to be slightly shocked with this album… don’t ask me why, I have this strange feeling I’ll have to defend the album. I might be wrong though!

And I say some fans because some of them are waiting for Within Temptation to go back to their Enter/The Dance/Mother Earth style. I, on the other hand, like when a band takes some risks and change their style slightly. They change, but they still are Within Temptation.

Plus, I think that a band that doesn’t take risks or change is boring! It’s like they don’t even try… but then again, there are bands and bands.

So, moving on…

Hydra is simply amazing. I was gaping at my laptop while listening to it the whole time. It’s an album that you first find it weird and strange and then absolutely love. Better, it’s an album that whether you love it or hate it… and I love it.

Let us praise Sharon’s vocals in the album. She definitely improves with each album, her voice sounding each time more beautiful (not to mention Sharon herself… she looks gorgeous! Well… she is gorgeous…).

The guitars are something I’ve always loved in every WT song. I don’t know why but whenever Ruud picks up his guitar and starts playing, I freak out. And, I have to admit that listening to him playing my favourite solos from The Unforgiving (Murder and Stairway to the Skies) live was pure ecstasy!

There’s an heavy edge to this album that isn’t present on The Unforgiving. There’s these (please, I’m no pro!) two heavy strings that make it more heavy than the previous albums. Definitely an highlight of it… absolutely amazing.

The orchestral madness I love about this band is still amazing. Of course that this album has more heavy guitars and drums but the violins and choirs are still there. I think Edge of the World and And We Run are the perfect example of how brilliant these guys are when composing rock songs alongside an orchestra.

And speaking of And We Run… that was the song I was really scared about because of its collaboration with Xzibit (for those who don’t know who he is… he’s a rapper!), which is a strange combination for me. I mean, WT and rap?! I could never picture it. However, the song came out as one of the best tracks in the album – no to mention the very first song labelled as explicit due to one simple swear in it. And I have to admit that the combination worked rather well.

I was already used to the Demos from Paradise (What About Us?) EP so, when I first heard Silver Moonlight and Dog Days, I was perplexed. It’s weird when you’re used to something and then that thing changes into something different… still good, but different.

Hydra really marks a change in Within Temptation’s career. It’s all you love about them from their previous works combined into one. A heavier, faster and riskier album but still as amazing as their other works.

And as a fan of Within Temptation since 2004 (WOW! 10 years already?!), I’m always in awe with their work!

So, in conclusion… here’s my reaction to the Beast:

Movies: Shame (2011)

I thought I was going to be shocked with the amount of sex scenes my adorable Michael “I’m All Yours” Fassbender (crazy fan!) has, especially the gay one, but I finished the movie pitying him. This movie deals with such dark issues you cannot help but simply stare and wish to know if Brandon is going to deal with his addiction to sex. Brandon is mesmerising, Fassbender doing a fantastic job portraying this troubled and haunting character.

I’m not going to fully review it because it’s an experience people have to go through in order to understand. Each and every single one of us has a different opinion when it comes to sex and this movie isn’t scared of showing the psychological damage it can cause in someone’s life.

The Whole World is Watching…. and Waiting!

Within Temptation’s new album, Hydra (check out the cover below), is coming out at the end of the month and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Three days before the release of the highly anticipated new album of this freaking awesome European band, they released a brand new video called The Whole World is Watching featuring Dave Pirner.

Apparently there’s two version of the video: one with Dave Pirner and other with Piotr Rogucki. So far, I could only watch the first version but I really, really want to also see the latter.

Anyway, as a fan of Within Temptation I couldn’t help but share the new video. It’s a nice song, not heavy but it kind of reminds me Frozen from The Heart of Everything.

From the Demos they released alongside their Paradise (What About Us?) feat. Tarja EP, I’m pretty sure this album will go back to their heavier roots. Still, I’ll be waiting to get my hands on it to say anything… and I WILL get my hands on the album as soon as it comes out 😉

12th Doctor… in Costume!

So, Steven Moffat just released the very first picture of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor and what a surprise it was.

… *drum roll*…

I have to be extremely honest with you: I LIKE IT! I like the simple clothes and… sweet Jesus help me…  the Doc Martins! It’s a completely new Doctor therefore he needed a completely new outfit.

And, let’s be honest guys, we can’t really dismiss Capaldi’s Doctor costume just because it’s a little different from the previous ones. Each Doctor brought us something new and I’m certain that Capaldi will be brilliant as the Doctor. We just need to give him a chance first and then… and then… give our opinion.

And I’m Back…

The Majestic Tale is back and with a brand new design. What do you guys think?!

There are still a couple of things to modify but gimme some time and I’ll manage it.

Also, the blog will have some new features, exclusively my previous (and deleted) blog idea The Writer’s Brainstorm where I’ll share my ideas for stories, share the stories, and everything writing related.

My Ner’s Majestic Set is something I’m still thinking whether I should delete or not. Truth is, I don’t have that many sets on Polyvore to keep this up every single Sunday. Therefore, I might post a set once in a while. I’m still deciding.

I’m also planning on reviewing some soundtracks and post them here. I’m no a professional, of course, but I do like a good soundtrack so I might share my opinion each now and then 😉

I’ll continue active when it comes to my book blog. I’m sorry if I spend more time planning and publishing there instead of here.

With this, I wish you all a Happy New Year (I know, quite late) and that 2014 might bring all our wishes.
